SUMMARY:Lecture on Recent Archaeological Discoveries at the 1719 Museum
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n\n\nDr. Timothy Trussell will speak about findings made during archaeological digs with Millersville students on the grounds of the 1719 Museum. \n\n\nStudents uncovered artifacts\, including pottery\, glassware\, and Indigenous projectile points. \n\n\nMennonite Life hosts Dr. Timothy Trussell on Wednesday\, March 9\, 2022\, at 7 pm at the Mennonite Life collections building. Dr. Trussell\, Assistant Professor of Anthropology\, director of the Millersville University Archaeology Program\, and co-director of the MU Atlantic World Center will speak about recent archaeological discoveries at the 1719 Museum. \nAdmission is $10. Preregister by March 8 at bit.ly/1719MuseumDig. \nTrussell conducted field schools for students in the fall of 2020 and 2021. One objective was to find evidence of the original 1711 log home the Herr family built for shelter before the existing stone house was completed in 1719. \nLearn about artifacts the students uncovered\, including pottery\, glassware\, Indigenous projectile points\, and what they add to our understanding. \nThe 1719 Museum benefits from research programs such as this one by the Atlantic World Center of Millersville University. Up-to-date research results improve the interpretation of the property and the people who lived on the historic site. Using archaeology as a research tool has been a tradition on the property since the museum’s inception. \nMennonite Life’s vision is diverse communities connecting across boundaries by knowing and valuing their own and each others’ stories of life\, faith\, cultures\, and histories. Our mission is to hold\, honor\, and share items and stories featuring the lived experiences and faith values of Lancaster Mennonites and interrelated communities.

SUMMARY:Gospel (LMH) The musical by Lancaster
DESCRIPTION:“Godspell” is a modern retelling of the parables and teachings of Jesus. Starting with baptism\, Jesus gathers a group of followers who in turn help him to share his stories with humor\, kindness\, and love using “a wide variety of games\, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing.” An eclectic blend of songs\, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville\, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life moves on and around the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion\, Jesus’ messages of kindness and love come vibrantly to life.”\n\n“Boasting a score of toe-tapping songs\,” with music by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked\, Children of Eden)\, you will find yourself humming along and smiling throughout. Don’t miss this family-friendly musical version of the greatest teachings ever taught.\n
