In this class, we will look at Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5:43-48 on loving enemies. The case will be made that we cannot both love and kill an enemy. We will also examine other passages of Scripture on loving enemies, practical concerns related to this as well as objections to this teaching.
Our primary focus will be biblical but we will also look at the history of how this has been interpreted in the early church and at the time of the Reformation. This course is part of a broader series of classes being developed on Anabaptist-Mennonite faith and practice. It will run in the Spring for six sessions on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00. It will be available via Zoom as well. More details on dates to come soon. Come with your curiosity and questions.
