Anabaptist Faith and Practice Courses – Fall

About

Every Fall, LMC offers an Anabaptist Faith and Practice course. For the Fall of 2026, the course will be The Baptism of Believing Disciples.

We will look at the biblical theology and practice of water baptism. These are some of the topics we will cover: Where does water baptism come from? Jesus’s baptism by John. Baptism as cruciform. Spirit baptism. Baptisms of suffering. The mode of baptism. Infant baptism, when did it start and why? A critique of the covenant argument for infant baptism. The case for only baptizing believing disciples. What does baptism accomplish? (baptismal realism). Should we baptize immediately upon confession of faith? Should baptism and church membership go together? Children and baptism. How do we receive those previously infant baptized into our churches? And other topics.
