Thrift on Purpose is seeking a Processing Manager to add to the leadership team. The Processing Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the processing building at Thrift on Purpose. This person is responsible to the Executive Director, supervises the Donation Receiver/Backroom Lead, and relates to shop volunteers, staff, and to the broader MCC Thrift Shop Network.
Position Responsibilities: – Acts as Manager on Duty, as assigned, performing all necessary functions for successful shop operation. – Participates with the Retail Manager enabling the shop to effectively meet sales profit goals, as well as changing customer demands. – Communicates effectively with donors, staff, and volunteers. Works to improve programs and methods to enhance the volunteer experience, while also maintaining efficiency. – Motivates associates by improving morale, teamwork, and engagement. – Empowers staff and volunteers to resolve issues promptly and professionally. – Maintains all aspects of processing building conditions, presentation/appearance, and safety. – Ensures product varieties and quantities to meet customer demand. – Maintains and organizes processing building inventory to allow for maximum efficiency and productivity, while also creating a positive volunteer experience. – Manages daily operations of the shop, including opening and closing the processing space and making bank deposits, as needed. – Supervise volunteer work and train volunteers, as needed. Express appreciation both formally through volunteer appreciation events and informally on a day to day basis. – Maintains effective communication with the Retail Manager in fulfilling the needs of the retail floor and volunteers. – Participates in weekly management meetings to discuss information, priorities, goals, accomplishments, directives, and changes. – Manages the backroom and volunteers outside of normal operating hours as needed. – Manages the volunteer schedule for processing volunteers – Hires and schedules Backroom Leads – Helps to promote diversity and equal opportunity employment in a respectful workplace environment.
