The purpose of the Deacon Fund is to provide financial aid for congregations who are in need. Our goal is to practice the principle of mutual care which the Apostle Paul spoke of when he said, At the present time your plenty will supply what they need so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.” (II Corinthians 8:14-15).

Intended Purpose and Limits of Assistance

1. The stated purpose of the Deacon Fund is to minister to congregations and credentialed leaders during a time of hardship or crisis by temporarily assisting them with their basic needs.

2. Depending on the circumstances the Deacon Fund Committee may recommend financial counseling, training in budgeting and/or debt management, or other financial education that would help the congregation or individual avoid potential hardships or crises in the future.

3. Generally, assistance from the Deacon Fund is intended to cover a congregation’s or individual’s basic needs. The Deacon Fund is not designed or funded to support multiple requests from a congregation or individual. More than one annual request or multiple requests over time will be considered at the discretion of the Committee.
