Why We Build

February 19, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Lancaster, Pa., January 24, 2019—The structures around us influence what we do, how we think, and what we find important. Learn more about human-made structures in Lancaster County and their impact during “Why We Build,” a roundtable hosted by the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, at East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church, lL, Lancaster, Pa.

Participating will be Jesse Pellman, Longview Structures; Mary Haverstick, filmmaker; Randy Harris, historian; Dale Yoder, architect; and Shawn Buckwalter, EG Stoltzfus. Chad Martin, director at Partners for Sacred Spaces, will moderate the discussion.

Human-made space, or “built environment” includes urban, suburban, and rural areas, in contrast to natural environment. In Lancaster County, “we have it all,” says roundtable organizer David High. “We have places we value greatly and we have places that seem disposable.”

Attendance is by donation.
